Leopard Mauls Youth Near Nallamala Forest

Kurnool:A leopard attacked a youth in the Nallamala forest near Sadarampenta Chenchugudem in Kothapalli mandal of the Atmakur forest division on Tuesday. The victim, Pulicherla Ankanna, had entered the forest to tend to a paddy field when a leopard, hiding in the bushes, suddenly pounced on him.

However, Ankanna managed to escape by running towards the village. Startled by the commotion and the presence of people, the leopard retreated into the forest. Ankanna sustained minor injuries in the attack and was shifted to Atmakur hospital for treatment.

Forest officials visited the village and are gathering information from locals regarding the incident. Efforts are underway to track the movement of the leopard to prevent further attacks, officials said.
