KAKINADA: Officials of the Legal Metrology department seized 10 packets of cashew nuts during an inspection of a commercial establishment for alleged violations of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules.

Kovvuru Legal Metrology assistant controller (in-charge) V. Prashant said the seized packets did not carry the mandatory declarations, such as the date of manufacture, expiry date, and maximum retail price, prescribed under the rules.

The assistant controller said every pre-packaged commodity offered for sale must display statutory particulars, including the name and address of the manufacturer, packer, or importer, net quantity, month and year of packing, maximum retail price, customer care details, and other mandatory declarations.
