Visakhapatnam: Vizianagaram police arrested a man for allegedly killing his parents by running them over with a tractor, following a dispute over family land at Challavanithota village in Vizianagaram district. The victims were identified as Appalanaidu and Jayamma Pandranki and the accused as Pandranki Rajasekhar who was apprehended at Chodamma Agraharam village junction at 10:30 am, two days after the incident.

During a press meet, deputy superintendent of police M. Srinivasa Rao explained that the conflict stemmed from a property dispute. Rajasekhar, who had accumulated debts of approximately Rs 12 lakhs, had been pressuring his parents to sell their land to help him settle his financial obligations.

The situation escalated when Rajasekhar discovered that 30 cents of the land he believed to be in his father’s name had been registered in his sister Radha Kumari's name in December 2024.

Following a village panchayat meeting that failed to resolve the dispute, Rajasekhar allegedly attempted to level the contested land with an excavator on April 26.

Police said that Rajasekhar found his parents hiding in a neighbouring cornfield and deliberately drove the tractor through the field multiple times, fatally hitting both victims.

Since October last year, the accused had been living with his wife and daughter at Rellivalasa, separately from his parents due to the ongoing family feud.

A case was registered following a complaint by Radha Kumari, the accused’s sister.
