Krishna Water Released From Nagarjunasagar Right Canal to Meet Drinking Water Needs of People

Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu urges coordinated efforts to ensure water use for drinking only

Vijayawada: Krishna River water was released from the Nagarjunasagar Right Canal to meet the drinking water needs of the people.

Water resources minister Nimmala Rama Naidu said here on Thursday that they requested Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) to release water to fill 447 tanks located in Palnadu, Guntur, Bapatla and Prakasam districts.

He asked the officials from the water resources, revenue and rural water supply departments to coordinate with one another to use the water only to meet drinking water needs of the people.

The minister claimed that they were able to get adequate water for cultivation of crops in the Nagarjunasagar ayacut after a gap of three years. He said they were also providing water in a planned manner to meet the drinking water needs of the people.
