Vijayawada: After a goods train derailed near Kovvur railway station, restoration works are underway on a full scale. The incident affected train services in the section for several hours.

Under the guidance of the General Manager, South Coast Railway, Sandeep Mathur, the restoration works started immediately with the arrival of an Accident Relief Train and officials. 

However, the train services resumed from 09.28 hrs in down-line and up-line services will also commence shortly.

Following the derailment, passenger train has been cancelled on 11 September 2026:

Train No. 67285 – Rajahmundry–Visakhapatnam Passenger and Train No. 67286 – Visakhapatnam–Rajahmundry Passenger, leaving Visakhapatnam on 11 September 2026, is cancelled.
