Kapu, Telaga, Balija and Ontari Castes Seek Special BC Quota
Twelve resolutions passed, including a special BC quota, Kapu Bhavan in Amaravati, and job reservations
Vijayawada: AP State Kapu JAC president Chandu Janardhan on Sunday announced that a phase-wise movement is being planned to resolve the long-pending problems of Kapu, Balija, Telaga, Ontari, Thurpu Kapu and Munnur Kapu castes.
He said as part of it, public meetings will be held in three regions of AP, in Vijayawada, Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra.
The JAC president said the decision to launch the phase-wise movement is part of the 12 resolutions passed by 325 leaders, representatives, unions, Radha Ranga Mitramandali and business leaders who participated in the Kapu JAC meeting in Vijayawada.
Janardhan said the other resolutions of Kapu JAC include special BC reservation for Kapu, Telaga, Balija and Ontari castes, stopping of attacks on Kapu communities in Andhra Pradesh, renaming of Krishna district and the Iconic Bridge after late Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, and celebration of Krishnadevaraya Jayanti as an official programme.
Further, Rs3,000 crore should be sanctioned to the Kapu Corporation every year, Kapu buildings must be constructed on two acres in districts, priority to Kapus in political and nominated posts in proportion of their population, postings to Kapu employees in priority departments like police and revenue, and preventing oppression of Kapu employees.
The JAC president said efforts should be made to resolve the problems of Munnur Kapu family members in seven mandals merged into AP from Telangana following the reorganisation of AP. Subsidy must be given to SC, ST, BC and minority women in establishing MSMEs, 40 per cent reservation for Kapu, Telugu, Balija and single women in employment, 5 acres of land for constructing the Kapu Bhavan in capital Amaravati and installing statues of freedom fighter Kanneganti Hanumanthu and Krishnadevaraya in the capital city of Amaravati.
