Kakani Flays AP Government Over Water Management in Nellore
Kakani demanded an immediate review of water availability in Somasila and Kandaleru and urged the government to release water to protect farmers’ interests
Nellore: Former minister and YSRC leader Kakani Govardhan Reddy criticised the state government over its alleged failure to manage water resources in the Somasila and Kandaleru reservoirs, warning that farmers could face hardship if rains fail.
Addressing the media at the district party office, Kakani said the two reservoirs had only around 25 per cent water storage, while the Srisailam reservoir had nearly 71 per cent. Despite the availability of water at Srisailam, the government was not releasing water to the Nellore reservoirs through the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator, he alleged.
He accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of betraying Nellore voters and alleged that political considerations were influencing water management. He also alleged that leaders were more concerned about the “flow of funds” than the flow of irrigation water.

He said the YSRC would continue its fight on behalf of farmers in Nellore district.
