Kakani Facing Serious Charges in Illegal Mining Case
According to the report, there are 11 cases against Kakani, including four excise cases related to spurious liquor distributed during general elections in 2014.
Nellore: The remand report that police have submitted in the Venkatagiri court makes serious allegations against former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy in connection with the massive illegal mining racket.
According to the report, there are 11 cases against Kakani, including four excise cases related to spurious liquor distributed during general elections in 2014.
In addition, the investigation has uncovered illegal mining of quartz and feldspar minerals worth ₹138 crore, apart from use of explosive materials without proper authorisation.
According to reliable information, a whopping 63,000 tonnes of quartz mineral had been illegally extracted and transported, causing a staggering loss of ₹138 crore to the state exchequer. The scale of operations suggests a well-organised network operating under political cover.
The remand report accuses the former minister, who has been remanded to 14 days in Nellore District Jail, of facilitating and shielding illegal operations, assuring the culprits that government officials and departments would not pose any obstacles to their activities.
The report also includes a serious allegation that Kakani, in coordination with YSRCP leader P. Shyam Prasad Reddy, threatened an individual who tried to expose the illegal mining.
