Kakani Alleges Poll Irregularities, Threatens Legal Action
YSRC leader Kakani Govardhan Reddy alleged irregularities in municipal election nominations in Nellore and warned of legal action against officials found violating election rules.
Former minister and YSRC Nellore district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy on Tuesday accused the ruling coalition of undermining democracy through intimidation, attacks and alleged irregularities in the municipal election nomination process.
Addressing a press conference at the YSRC district office, he alleged that nominations filed by party candidates had been rejected on flimsy grounds during scrutiny and that women candidates had faced irrelevant questioning.
Govardhan Reddy said the party would approach the courts over the alleged rejection of nominations in Nellore city divisions 72, 68, 63 and 10, and rural divisions 36, 38, 39, 40, 41 and 44. He warned that legal action, including private complaints and prosecution where warranted, would be pursued against officials found to have violated election rules.
Alleging that coalition leaders were resorting to intimidation, filing cases and applying pressure because they could not face YSRC candidates in electoral contests, he urged the police and election officials to act impartially.
Govardhan Reddy called on officials to ensure transparency during polling and counting. He warned that those found guilty of deliberate violations would be held accountable under the law.
He challenged the ruling coalition to contest the elections fairly instead of securing unopposed victories through alleged irregularities.
