Anantapur:Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said the Kadapa steel plant would be operational in around three years, with a target to complete the phase I works by December 2028.

Naidu was on a one-day visit in Jammalamadugu area of Kadapa district on Friday, when he created a local sensation by travelling in an autorickshaw for a distance.

The CM distributed pensions at Gudem Cheruvu village in Jammalamadugu mandal. After interaction with the family of an auto driver, he arrived at the Praja Vedika venue in his autorickshaw. The video of this and Naidu paying the fare went viral.

Earlier in the day, the CM interacted with several families in the Gudem and promised to uplift them.

Recalling the major boost given to irrigation by his government through the Handri Neeva Sujala Shravanthi project, Naidu noted that this was the brainchild of former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao.

He observed that the works worth `3,800 crore, including the widening of the main canal, were in progress to irrigate every part of the Rayalaseema region.

The CM spoke of the Annadata Sukhibhava Scheme, which would be launching on Saturday. He said the state government would give `14,000 and the Centre `6,000 for the farmers a year.

Addressing a public meeting, Naidu referred to former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Nellore district to express solidarity with YSRC leader Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy. Naidu noted that Prasanna Kumar made critical comments on woman MLA V. Prashanthi Reddy. “Y.S. Jagan is encouraging his party leaders who maintained ugly attitudes against women,” he said.

The CM lambasted Jagan Mohan Reddy over his visits in the name of ‘paramarsha’, which were leading to “disruption of law and order” across the state.

Incharge minister Savitha, Jammalamadugu MLA Adinarayana Reddy and several others were present.
