July 15 Deadline Set for Temple Facilities
Endowments Commissioner reviews works and sets a deadline for new devotee facilities.
Vijayawada: Commissioner of Endowments K. Ramachandra Mohan has directed officials to ensure that the new Annadanam building and Prasadam Preparation Centre at the Sri Kanaka Durga Temple are inaugurated before July 15.
During an inspection of development works atop Indrakeeladri on Sunday, the Commissioner reviewed the progress of infrastructure projects aimed at improving facilities for devotees. Accompanied by temple chairman, executive officer and engineering officials, he assessed works underway at the shrine.
He first inspected the renovated Ashirvachana Mandapam and expressed satisfaction over the quality of the completed flooring works.
The commissioner later reviewed the new Annadanam building and the Prasadam Preparation Centre (Potu), both of which are in the final stages of construction at the foothill area. He directed officials to carry out a few modifications to improve crowd management and devotee convenience.
Making it clear that the facilities must be opened before July 15, Ramachandra Mohan instructed the temple executive officer to consult the Vedic Committee and finalise the inauguration date and muhurtham by Monday evening. He also directed engineering officials and contractors to complete all pending works on a war footing.
The commissioner noted that heavy pilgrim turnout is expected during the forthcoming Ashadha Sare Samarpana and Shakambari festivals. The availability of the new facilities before the festivals would significantly improve services for devotees, he said.
He also instructed officials to expedite land acquisition for the proposed queue complex and reiterated the government's commitment to developing the temple with modern infrastructure and amenities.
Temple Trust Board chairman Borra Radhakrishna, Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik, board members and engineering officials participated in the inspection.
