Judiciary, Bar Must Function in Coordination, Says AP High Court Judge
New courts inaugurated at Amalapuram to help reduce pending case burden
Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh High Court judge Battu Devanand on Sunday called upon judicial systems to function in coordination with bar associations, making delivery of speedy justice to litigants their paramount objective.
Inaugurating the newly constructed District Special Court and the Second Additional Civil Judge-cum-Magistrate (Junior Division) Court located within the court complex at Amalapuram, Justice Devanand, who is the administrative judge for the combined East Godavari district, called upon every individual within the system to discharge his / her duties diligently to steer the judicial institution forward.
He suggested that advocates should encourage litigants to effectively utilise the Lok Adalats (People’s Courts), as doing so would help in reducing the backlog of pending cases.
Speaking on the occasion, another High Court Judge R. Raghunandana Rao wanted the judiciary to adapt itself to changing times by embracing contemporary trends, integrating technology into the judicial system and taking steps to deliver speedy verdicts.
Justice B.V.L.N. Chakravarti stated that utilisation of digital systems is imperative in the present era, underlining that the judicial process can function at the desired level only when it keeps pace with the times. Justice Nyapathi Vijay suggested that judicial verdicts should be aligned with evolving social conditions. Justice Sumathi Jagadam asked lawyers to provide speedy relief to litigants, ensuring that the trust reposed in them is not betrayed.
The combined East Godavari District Judge Gandham Sunitha presented a comprehensive report on the status of case registrations and disposal within the district. She expressed optimism that the newly inaugurated courts would play a pivotal role in alleviating the burden of pending cases.
Amalapuram Bar Association president Kasi Sesha Rao said it is historic that two new courts have been established, which would help advocates ensure speedy justice.
Those present on the occasion included district joint collector Vykhom Nidhiya Devi, 14th Additional Judge G. Priya Darshini, 2nd Additional Judge Chandramoulessari, and Junior Civil Judge S. Sri Rekha.
