JS, TD Leaders Clash At Pithapuram Over Display Of CM, Dy. CM Pictures
In a fit of anger, Varma went on to tear up Pawan Kalyan’s banner: Reports
KAKINADA: Clashes erupted on Tuesday between Jana Sena and Telugu Desam leaders in Pithapuram constituency, where the Pithapuram Area Development Authority (PADA) officials had convened a meeting ahead of distributing tabs and mobile phones to self-help group (SHG) members and cheques related to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
At the meeting, former Pithapuram MLA S.V.S.N. Varma of TDP noticed that the photo of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had not been printed on the banner bearing the picture of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, who represents the Pithapuram constituency.
In a fit of anger, Varma went on to tear up Pawan Kalyan’s banner.
This led to former MLA of Pithapuram Pendem Dorababu of Jana Sena expressing outrage. Dorababu questioned Varma as to why he is frequently raising unnecessary issues and causing disturbances.
As the arguments between the two leaders continued, Dorababu put his hands on Varma’s chest and shoved him away. This led to a quarrel between Jana Sena and Telugu Desam workers, leading to jostling.
Later, Varma charged that Dorababu had joined Jana Sena from YSRC after the 2024 elections. Since then, the latter has been disturbing the alliance between Jana Sena and TD.
Varma maintained that TD workers are silently bearing the highhandedness of Dorababu due to the instructions of Chandrababu Naidu. Varma went on to demand that Chandrababu Naidu’s photo should be displayed prominently in all government programmes and meetings.
However, Dorababu told Deccan Chronicle that Varma is needlessly creating controversies only to curry favour with the AP CM and Education minister Nara Lokesh, He said that Pawan Kalyan and Chandrababu Naidu are leading the state unitedly. But Varma is not able to digest this.
