JS Corporator Alleges TDR Scam In Simhachalam BRTS Road Widening
The GVMC corporator pointed out that TDRs have been issued to occupants of the land in the Simhachalam BRTS widening project without the required registered gift deeds.
VISAKHAPATNAM: Jana Sena corporator Peethala Murthy Yadav has accused Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and state authorities of violating the regulations of Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) related to the BRTS road-widening scheme between Tolipavancha and Adivaram Junction.
In his letter addressed to Director of Municipal Administration and GVMC commissioner, Murthy Yadav states that according to existing regulations, land designated for widening must be formally transferred to municipal authorities through a registered gift deed. He pointed out lands marked for road-widening actually belong to the Simhachalam Devasthanam and recorded in the 22-A register.
The GVMC corporator pointed out that TDRs have been issued to occupants of the land in the Simhachalam BRTS widening project without the required registered gift deeds. He noted that authorities are depending solely on no-objection certificates from Simhachalam Devasthanam, while landholders are registering their plots at current market value to claim TDRs at a 1:4 ratio.
Additionally, Murthy Yadav said alternative land has already been allocated to the Devasthanam by GVMC / state government, raising doubts about the necessity of the gift-deed transfers.
The GVMC corporator warned that such procedural oversights could misallocate state resources to a select few, eroding public trust and setting a harmful legal precedent.
Murthy Yadav requested the Municipal Administration department to cease further proceedings in this matter. Otherwise, it could lead to a court-mandated judicial inquiry, he stated.
