Kurnool: Tension gripped Anantapur city on Sunday following reports that fans of actor Junior NTR were planning to lay siege to the residence of Anantapur Urban MLA Daggupati Venkateswara Prasad, after an audio clip went viral on social media in which he made derogatory remarks against the actor.

A large number of fans attempted to march towards the MLA’s residence, prompting heavy police deployment and barricading of access routes. Additional checks were carried out on vehicles entering the city, while security was tightened across sensitive areas to prevent violence.

Protesters staged demonstrations near Gooty, demanding that the MLA issue a public apology to Jr NTR. They warned that failure to do so could lead to intensified protests, including attacks on the MLA’s residence and the TD office in Anantapur.

Fans further urged the party’s high command to suspend the MLA if he refused to apologise. District police maintained strict vigil, monitoring the situation closely to avert any untoward incidents in the area.
