JNTUA Gets ₹80 Lakh Electric Cooking Equipment
JNTUA has received electric cooking equipment worth ₹80 lakh under the AP State Energy Conservation Mission to promote energy-efficient and sustainable cooking in its hostels.
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA) has received electric cooking equipment worth ₹80 lakh for its engineering college hostels under the AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM).
The equipment has been provided as part of the state government's initiative to promote energy conservation, environmental protection and sustainable development by encouraging the use of energy-efficient electric cooking systems in educational institutions.
Vice-chancellor Prof. H. Sudarshana Rao said the initiative would reduce dependence on conventional fuels, lower carbon emissions and provide a cleaner and safer cooking environment in the hostels. He said the adoption of electric cooking technology would improve energy efficiency and streamline hostel operations.
At present, the boys' and girls' hostels use LPG cylinders for preparing meals. The new equipment is expected to reduce fuel costs while supporting the university's sustainability goals.
The vice-chancellor said the initiative would enhance hostel infrastructure and improve amenities for students through the adoption of eco-friendly technology.
Registrar Prof. S. Krishnaiah, engineering college principal Prof. P. Chennareddy, vice-principal Prof. B. Dileep Kumar and hostel manager Dr B. Jitendra Goud thanked the AP state energy conservation mission for providing the equipment.
They said the initiative would improve hostel facilities while strengthening the university's commitment to energy conservation, environmental sustainability and efficient campus management.
