Janardhan, Haripriya Clinch State Carrom Titles
Ch. Janardhan Reddy and L. Haripriya emerged men's and women's champions at the Andhra State First Ranking Carrom Tournament 2026 held in Nellore.
The Andhra State First Ranking Carrom Tournament 2026 for men and women concluded in Nellore on Sunday after three days of competition.
The tournament was organised by the Nellore District Carrom Association under the supervision of the Andhra State Carrom Association. Sarayu Hero Managing Director A. Raj Kumar presented cash prizes, trophies and certificates to the winners in the presence of former Ranji cricketer and tournament co-chairman Malireddy Kotareddy and other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Kotareddy said discipline, dedication and regular practice were essential for success in sports. He encouraged players to excel at the national and international levels.
Andhra State Carrom Association General Secretary Shaik Abdul Jaleel said the tournament helped identify talented players from across the state. He also announced the Andhra Pradesh team selected on the basis of performances in the tournament to represent the state in upcoming national competitions.
In the men's singles, Ch. Janardhan Reddy of Visakhapatnam won the title, while U. Sarath Babu of Nellore finished runner-up. B. Ravindra Reddy of Guntur secured third place and G. Ramesh of Nellore finished fourth.
In the women's singles, L. Haripriya of Visakhapatnam emerged champion. B. Shobhika of Tirupati finished runner-up, while MSK Harika and S.K. Husna Sameera, both from Visakhapatnam, secured third and fourth places respectively.
Nellore District Carrom Association Secretary P. Srinivasulu thanked the participants. Retired APTRANSCO Superintending Engineer B.V. Sesha Reddy, Apollo Hospitals CEO Visweswara Reddy, Nellore District Carrom Association President Srimannarayana and officials of the state and district associations attended the closing ceremony.
