Kakinada:The Jana Sena is facing internal rifts in Pithapuram constituency, represented by the party head and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
There are not only differences between the Jana Sena and the Telugu Desam, but also differences within the Jana Sena party. Many groups in the party are at loggerheads. They are waiting for the right occasion to have an open fight.
On Monday, marking Ambedkar Jayanthi, local JS leaders competed with each other to garland the statue of the leader. One group tried to topple the other group.
According to sources, some JS leaders formed their own groups and are trying to make their presence felt as and when Pawan Kalyan visits the constituency. However, PK has no time to spend with the leaders or discuss matters.
Many JS leaders are aspiring for posts in temple trust boards or seats in upcoming civic body elections. Pawan Kalyan recently told the cadres that the party would be strengthened by forming booth-level committees. The leaders are competing to win such posts too.
Some JS leaders said that they are making efforts to strengthen the party from the beginning, but some leaders came to the party from outside, like from YSRC, and are trying to dictate terms to them.
Meanwhile, there are allegations that the party coordinators and incharges in the constituency have failed to forge unity among the leaders. Former MLA of Pithapuram, Pendem Dorababu, joined the party from the YSRC two months ago. But his group maintained neutrality in the group conflicts.
