Jagan Assures Legal Aid to Amaravati Farmers
The YSRC chief claimed that the government was seeking to acquire more land in Amaravati to benefit Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his associates.
Vijayawada:Former chief minister and YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday assured farmers from the Amaravati capital region of legal support, alleging that some of them were being harassed for refusing to part with their lands for the capital project.
A group of farmers met Jagan at the party office in Tadepalli and complained of harassment by the coalition government. Addressing them, Jagan said it was unfair to target farmers who had chosen not to give up their lands. He alleged that despite nearly 50,000 acres having been pooled earlier, there was little activity in the capital region.
The YSRC chief claimed that the government was seeking to acquire more land in Amaravati to benefit Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his associates. He reiterated his support for the “MAVIGUN” development model, stating that it was more viable due to its strong port, road, rail and air connectivity. He further alleged that Amaravati’s development involved huge costs and would take a long time due to the lack of basic infrastructure.
In a separate interaction, Jagan criticised the coalition government for allegedly weakening the Aarogyasri health scheme. Doctors from Narasaraopet and Guntur met him and expressed concern over the state of the healthcare sector. They alleged that shortcomings in the implementation of the scheme were affecting access to timely treatment for poor patients.
