Hyderabad: YSRCP president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced Rs.25 lakh as compensation to the family members of soldier Murali Naik, who sacrificed his life during the cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch.

Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Kallitanda village at Gorantla mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district in Andhra Pradesh and consoled Naik’s family members on Tuesday.

Speaking to media persons, he said Naik’s bravery was an inspiration for everyone and the country is grateful to Naik for his sacrifice. He announced Rs.25 lakh as compensation to Naik’s family on behalf of YSRCP.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the YSRCP government has started the tradition of giving Rs.50 lakh as ex-gratia in case of the death of a soldier and thanked the TDP coalition government for continuing the same policy.
