Vijayawada: In a significant move to enhance public services, the AP government would gather feedback from citizens on its schemes, programmes and services.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Sunday that the government would implement an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) to directly collect opinions from beneficiaries, while “ensuring that the implementation of government initiatives aligns with public expectations.”

As part of this initiative, computer-based phone calls will be made to beneficiaries, seeking feedback from them on the benefits, execution and quality of services under the welfare schemes of the state government.

“Beneficiaries will receive IVRS calls seeking their ratings and opinions, which will guide the government in making necessary adjustments. Feedback is already being collected from beneficiaries of programmes vis-a-vis doorstep pension delivery and free gas cylinder distribution under the Deepam scheme,” the CM said.

The questions would focus on whether pensions are being delivered on time and whether there are any issues in receiving free gas cylinders under the scheme, he said.

Naidu said, “In addition to welfare schemes, the government will also gather opinions on newly introduced policies such as the free sand policy and the new liquor sales policy. Feedback will also be collected on essential citizen services provided by departments like the revenue, municipal and electricity.”

“If any dissatisfaction is expressed, the reasons will be analyzed, and the services will be improved accordingly. This approach aims to enhance accountability among government officials and employees while ensuring quality service delivery.”

Naidu stressed that public opinion would play a decisive role in shaping governance. He urged citizens to participate actively in the feedback process. Spending just one or two minutes on these calls could lead to significantly better government services, he said.

The Chief Minister recalled, “The IVRS system has previously yielded excellent results. During general elections, the Telugu Desam relied on IVRS feedback to finalise candidates. During the Vijayawada floods, the government used IVRS calls to assess the effectiveness of relief works.” He called on citizens to cooperate in this initiative.
