ISRO Launches Its YUVIKA 2026 Plan To Inspire Students About Space
During the hectic programme, the students will unwind through yoga, sports, cultural activities, and local sightseeing, thereby gaining a holistic learning experience.
Nellore: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched the sixth edition of its flagship Young Scientists Programme — YUVIKA 2026 — aimed at nurturing scientific curiosity among school students and introducing them to space science and technology at an early age.
The two-week residential programme is for students who have passed Class 9 across the country. It had been inaugurated on May 11 by ISRO chairman V. Narayanan in Bengaluru. 456 meritorious students from out of 1.06 lakh who had applied from 28 states and eight union territories have been selected for the programme that will run from May 11 to May 22.
The programme for the students is being hosted at nine ISRO centres – VSSC Thiruvananthapuram, SAC Ahmedabad, URSC Bengaluru, SDSC-SHAR Sriharikota, NRSC Hyderabad, IIRS Dehradun, NE-SAC Shillong, IPRC Mahendragiri, and RRSC West, Jodhpur.
Addressing the students, the ISRO chairman highlighted India’s achievements in space technology. He spoke about future missions, such as the Bharatiya Antariksh Station and Gaganyaan. He declared that today’s young students would play a key role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Participating students will receive hands-on exposure in space science through interactions with scientists and Gaganyatris, witnessing model rocket assembly and launch, seeing Chandrayaan-3 DIY activities, and participating in a live RH200 rocket launch.
