NELLORE: Department of Space secretary and Isro chairman Dr. V. Narayanan inaugurated the Isro-Academia Day at the Isro Headquarters in Bengaluru, on Tuesday.

Those present included senior leadership, including Isro scientific secretary, Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR director, and the Capacity Building Programme Office (CBPO) director.

The event marked a significant step in strengthening Isro’s long-standing collaboration with academic institutions.

About 150 professors from universities and academic institutions from across the country participated in the Isro-Academia Day, alongside senior Isro scientists and engineers.

On the occasion, the Isro chairman released the RESPOND Basket 2025, outlining research statements aligned with Isro’s current and future mission needs.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Narayanan highlighted the critical role of academia in providing innovative ideas, enabling advanced research and making available skilled manpower to India’s growing space programme. He underlined that the RESPOND programme is aimed at addressing complex technological challenges through collaborative research.

Isro scientists delivered technical talks on RESPOND Basket 2025, offering insights into mission-driven requirements and potential areas of collaboration. Interactive sessions enabled exchange of ideas and strengthening of research linkages.

Under RESPOND Basket 2025, premier universities and recognised academic and R&D institutions can send their research proposals through the I-GRASP portal by January 31, 2026.
