Vijayawada:Dr G. Sanjeeva Reddy, Indian National Trade Union Congress president, on Thursday unveiled the 2026 diary and calendar of the AP Electricity Employees Union-327, calling upon electricity workers to unite and intensify their struggle for justice, equality and dignity.

Addressing union members, Dr Reddy said electricity employees, particularly artisans and field workers, were the backbone of the power sector but they continued to remain undervalued and invisible. He demanded immediate recognition of their contribution and equal treatment on par with other employees.

Strongly pitching for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), Dr Reddy said retirement with dignity was a fundamental right and not a privilege. “The Old Pension Scheme must be restored for every electricity worker without ambiguity,” he asserted.

He said both Intuc and the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Employees Union would continue their agitation until all pending demands of electricity employees were fulfilled and injustices addressed. Emphasising unity, Dr Reddy noted that organised and collective strength was the only way to resist exploitation and ensure workers’ rights.

The union reiterated its key demands, including restoration of the Old Pension Scheme for all employees, fulfilment of long-pending issues of electricity workers, and fair recognition and remuneration for artisans and field staff.

The programme was organised by union secretary general Raghav Reddy, who called upon workers to strengthen the union and stand united in the ongoing struggle for their rights.
