Pawan Kalyan: AP Adopting Science-Driven Approach to Tiger Conservation

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, on the occasion of "International Tiger Day", reaffirmed the state's commitment to wildlife conservation, stressing that protecting tigers is vital to preserving forests, rivers, biodiversity and ecological balance.

In a message posted on X, Pawan Kalyan said, "The tiger is India's National Animal, the guardian of our forests and the symbol of a healthy ecosystem."

Highlighting the state's conservation achievements, he said the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve, India's largest tiger reserve, has recorded 68 tigers and 11 cubs in the ongoing All India Tiger Estimation 2026, reflecting the positive impact of sustained conservation efforts.

Pawan Kalyan said Andhra Pradesh is adopting a science-driven approach to wildlife conservation by strengthening anti-poaching infrastructure, increasing the number of protection camps from 89 to 150, and deploying advanced technologies such as drones, camera traps, M-STrIPES and the flagship HANUMAN initiative. He added that the government is also empowering local communities, particularly the Chenchu tribe, as equal partners in safeguarding the state's forests.

To strengthen tiger populations in the Eastern Ghats, he said the Andhra Pradesh government is working with the governments of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh to translocate female tigers, a move aimed at enhancing genetic diversity and ensuring a healthy and sustainable tiger population in the state.

Pawan Kalyan urged people to join hands in conserving wildlife and ensuring that the roar of the tiger continues to echo through the forests of Nallamala, inspiring future generations to protect nature and preserve the nation's priceless biodiversity.
