Identify High-Velocity Water Flow Zones Along Highway
Konaseema collector R. Mahesh Kumar directed officials to identify highway stretches vulnerable to high-velocity water flow and strengthen safety measures.
Konaseema district collector R. Mahesh Kumar directed officials to scientifically identify stretches along the National Highway, particularly the Amalapuram-Mukkamala NH, vulnerable to high-velocity water flow and take immediate measures to strengthen safety at such locations.
He stressed the need for close coordination among the Irrigation, National Highways and roads and buildings departments to ensure that the highway project was executed without compromising safety and quality.
He issued the directions during a field inspection of the road works near the Saralapalli revetment wall along the Amalapuram-Mukkamala highway on Thursday. He sought details on the quality of construction, structural stability of the road and revetment wall, and the pattern and velocity of water flow, particularly during floods.
Mahesh Kumar asked officials to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the present condition of the works and identify vulnerable points before they developed into major problems. He directed them to implement safety measures wherever necessary and maintain continuous supervision of the construction works while adhering to prescribed quality standards.
He called for proactive planning and inter-departmental coordination to prevent recurrence of problems. He also instructed officials to pay special attention to construction quality along the highway and take necessary corrective and protective measures promptly.
