VISAKHAPATNAM: Immadi Appa Rao, the father of iBomma founder Ravi, lambasted film producer C. Kalyan for suggesting that only an encounter was the solution to silence the accused in the movie piracy case.

“Who gave filmmakers the right to call for an encounter to kill my son? What my son did is wrong — let him be punished. But why an encounter? I am pained by his statement,” Appa Rao told this correspondent.

He said the movie producers were spending crores of rupees on making films and doing everything to recover their investment from the public, which “itself is a crime.”

Asked if he was planning to issue a legal notice to Kalyan, Ravi’s father said he would not approach the court as he had neither the time nor the money.

Kalyan defended his outburst, and said that Ravi had “sucked the blood of producers.” “It is time his blood is shed. An encounter would set an example for others not to venture into such illegal acts,” Kalyan remarked.
