High Drama in Amadalavalasa as YSRC In-Charge Ravi, 9 Held

Visakhapatnam:High drama unfolded in Amadalavalasa on Saturday as Srikakulam police arrested YSRC Amadalavalasa in-charge Chintada Ravi Kumar and nine party workers in connection with an alleged misbehaviour case involving a woman sub-inspector during former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to the district.

A special task force team intercepted Ravi Kumar at Chilakapalen junction near Ranasthalam and took him to Srikakulam. Hundreds of YSRC workers were present during the arrest. Party sources said Ravi Kumar was on his way to the DSP’s office to surrender.

Earlier in the day, Amadalavalasa police arrested nine YSRC workers, including Ravi Kumar’s younger brother Chintada Krishna, in connection with the case involving Burja SI Pravalika.

The incident allegedly occurred when Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Srikakulam on July 30 to meet former minister Dr Seediri Appalaraju, who was in judicial remand. Police alleged that Ravi Kumar and other party workers made inappropriate remarks and behaved improperly towards the SI while she was on duty at Kotharoad in Amadalavalasa.

Police registered cases against Ravi Kumar and 20 others under various sections. All 21 accused allegedly went absconding after the case was registered about 10 days ago.

Tension prevailed at the Amadalavalasa police station after YSRC workers gathered in large numbers following the arrests.

Police reportedly formed 11 teams to trace the accused. Ravi Kumar had earlier released a video on social media denying that he had fled and saying he would surrender within an hour if cases against his party workers were withdrawn.
