Heavy Rains Lash Visakhapatnam; Rain Forecast Over AP
IMD has forecast that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on Saturday (May 31).
Visakhapatnam:Moderate to heavy rain lashed parts of the Visakhapatnam city on Friday evening disrupting the normal life, but bringing much respite from the sultry weather conditions prevailing over the past few days.
The rains affected electricity supply in several parts of the city, while traffic snarls could be seen due to waterlogging low lying areas of Poorna Market, Gnanapuram, Allipuram, Gajuwaka, Maddilapalem, Hanumanthawaka Junction, Kommadi, NAD Junction, and Appu Ghar.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) said parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema region experienced light to moderate rains during the last 24 hours ending 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
During the period, Piduguralla in Palnadu district recorded 6 cm of rainfall, followed by 5 cm in Sattenapalli (Palnadu) 4 cm in Eluru, 3 cm each in Mangalagiri and Amaravati in Guntur district, Nambulipulikunta (Sri Sathya Sai), Royachoti (Annamayya), Kodur (Kadapa) and Guntakal in Anantapur district.
