VISAKHAPATNAM: A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal on August 13, and is expected to trigger heavy rainfall in parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south coastal Andhra Pradesh from August 12, the IMD has reported.
The report stated that the upper-air cyclonic circulation over south coastal Andhra Pradesh persisted, while a north–south trough extends from south coastal Andhra Pradesh to north Sri Lanka across coastal Tamil Nadu.
The forecast indicates heavy rainfall in a few parts of Krishna, NTR, Eluru, and Alluri Sitharama Raju districts on August 12, and in parts of Guntur, NTR, Krishna, Eluru, West Godavari, East Godavari, Konaseema, and ASR districts on August 13. On August 14, parts of Prakasam, Palnadu, Guntur, NTR, Krishna, West Godavari, East Godavari, Eluru, Kakinada, Konaseema and ASR districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall.
Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places over NCAP and Yanam. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are also very likely in many places over SCAP and Rayalaseema regions between August 9 and 11.
During the last 24 hours, Kodur in YSR Kadapa district recorded the highest rainfall in Andhra Pradesh at 11 cm. Paleru Bridge in NTR district and Udayagiri in Nellore district recorded 10 cm each, followed by 9 cm each in Chinnamandem (Annamayya) and Tirupati, 8 cm each in Vempalle (YSR Kadapa) and Atmakur (Nellore), and 7 cm each in Markapur (Prakasam), Nandigama (NTR), and Rajampet (Annamayya).
