Heavy Inflows Continue Into Srisailam Dam

Owing to increased rainfall in the upper catchment areas, the Srisailam dam is currently receiving an inflow of 1,01,785 cusecs of water as of 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Kurnool:Owing to increased rainfall in the upper catchment areas, the Srisailam dam is currently receiving an inflow of 1,01,785 cusecs of water as of 8 p.m. on Thursday. To regulate water levels, authorities have lifted two radial crest gates and are releasing 1,54,566 cusecs downstream.

The reservoir is receiving 37,465 cusecs from the Jurala project, 20,530 cusecs through the spillway, and 43,790 cusecs from the Sunkesula reservoir. Outflows include 30,000 cusecs through the Pothireddypadu head regulator, 2,009 cusecs to the HNSS canal system, 66,643 cusecs to the right and left canal powerhouses, and 54,314 cusecs through the spillway.

At present, the reservoir holds 204 TMC ft of water, against its full storage capacity of 215 TMC ft.
