Health Minister Calls for Accountability of Health Staff in State Hospitals

Vijayawada:Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav has called for improvements in the functioning of health staff in government hospitals and felt the need to enhance the people’s satisfaction level to 85%.
The minister held a review meeting with senior officials to thrash out various issues here on Tuesday. He laid stress on increasing the accountability of the health staff vis-a-vis improving the functioning of the hospitals.
He called for a new system to evaluate the performance of the hospitals in relation to the number of patients in both the in-patient and out-patient wards in about 12,800 hospitals in the state as also the surgeries, diagnostic services etc that are provided to the patients.
As part of new system of evaluation of performance of the hospitals, the minister called for fixing targets of varied services to be provided to the patients, for a doctor, nurse and technician per day and fix the services offered at every hospital and also at Ayushman Aaroga Mandir for a year so that it would help find out whether patients got proper benefits from the doctors, health staff and other institutions.
The minister called for enlisting of new agencies for proper maintenance of sanitation in the hospitals as there was dissatisfaction among the people in this respect.
Officials, he said, must give their response in 30 days vis-à-vis the issues raised by the public representatives and the people.
He said that in the last two years, the government appointed more than 3,000 doctors and other staff. and spoke of plans to fill up all the vacant posts in the department in the next three years.
The minister called for steps to tackle seasonal fevers in the monsoon season and reviewed the cases booked in relation to seasonal diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya etc in the state in the last three years. He called for proper preparedness.
