Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the police commissioner to provide security at the house of YSRC leader Jogi Ramesh and ensure that there’s no repetition of violence.

A single judge bench headed by Justice Lakshmana Rao heard a lunch motion petition moved by Ramesh’s son Rohith here on Monday. The motion wanted the police to provide protection at their home. Rohit said the cops did not file any case against those who ransacked their house on Sunday night at Ibrahimpatnam.

Petitioner’s counsels Maheswar Reddy and Ramalakshman Reddy argued that the police were not acting firmly when the ruling party members resorted to violence in the last three days. They submitted that petrol bombs were hurled at the home of Jogi Ramesh to burn it.

Government pleader A. Jayanthi informed the court that violence broke out following the provocative remarks the YSRC leaders made against chief minister Naidu and minister Lokesh. “Security was arranged at his house and a police picket was also set up in addition to the filing of a criminal case against those involved in the violence.”

After hearing both the parties, the court directed the police commissioner to ensure that no untoward incident occurred at the residence of YSR Congress leader Jogi Ramesh.
