Visakhapatnam: GVMC Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao met with representatives from the United Nations University (UNU), the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) on Tuesday to review the Transformative Climate Action Plan (TCAP) and its role in disaster preparedness.
During the meeting at the GVMC headquarters, the officials emphasised the importance of community cooperation in mitigating climate-related disasters such as heat waves and floods. The discussion included the Urban Living Lab platform, which seeks to minimise loss of life and property by integrating scientific strategies with local resilience efforts.
Srinivasa Rao expressed his commitment to strengthening climate preparedness measures for Visakhapatnam residents and encouraged further collaboration among experts. Members of the climate cell SRU and other officials participated in the meeting.
