Vijayawada: Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) commissioner K. Mayur Ashok has undertaken a two-day study visit to Indore to examine best practices in sanitation, solid waste management, urban governance and infrastructure development for possible implementation in Guntur.

During the visit on Tuesday, the GMC commissioner held discussions with officials of the Indore Municipal Corporation and reviewed various urban development initiatives.

The study focused on the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission, sanitation systems, door-to-door waste collection, scientific solid waste processing, resource recovery mechanisms, circular economy initiatives, technology-driven governance, administrative reforms, revenue enhancement and citizen participation.

As part of the visit, Mayur Ashok inspected the door-to-door waste collection system and visited the Rajshahi Garbage Transfer Station. He also reviewed the operations of the integrated solid waste management control room and interacted with officials on its functioning.

The commissioner later visited the Kesarbagh Bridge Resource Recovery Centre to study recycling and waste recovery practices. He also toured the Devguradia processing site, where he reviewed scientific waste processing methods and sustainable waste management systems.

Mayur Ashok said the visit provided insights into the use of technology, public participation, efficient administration and revenue-generation measures that have contributed to Indore's performance in national cleanliness rankings.

He said suitable practices observed during the visit would be adapted to local requirements and implemented in Guntur to improve civic services and strengthen urban governance.
