Vijayawada:Guntur district superintendent of police Vakul Jindal has directed hotels, guesthouses, hostels, ashrams, choultries, homestays, educational institutions, hospitals and other establishments providing accommodation to foreigners to mandatorily register their arrival, stay and departure details online.

The requirement applies to foreign nationals as well as Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders, as specified on the Union ministry of home affairs’ Form III portal, the SP said.

Under Section 8 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, an accommodation keeper is responsible for submitting details of foreigners staying at the premises to the concerned Registration Officer in the prescribed manner.

As per Rule 17 of the Immigration and Foreigners Rules, 2025, Form III details must be submitted electronically within 24 hours of a foreigner’s arrival at the accommodation. Departure details must also be submitted electronically within 24 hours.

The SP said the prescribed Form III online portal should be used for registration. Hotels, accommodation providers and educational institutions are required to submit Form II and Form III details relating to foreigners and OCI cardholders.

Accommodation providers must preserve electronic records of arrival, stay and departure details for at least one year and produce them for inspection when sought by the Registration Officer, District Magistrate or a police officer not below the rank of head constable.

Hospitals, nursing homes and other medical institutions providing accommodation, medical care or sleeping facilities to foreigners also come under the rules.

Jindal warned that violations would invite action as per law.
