Vijayawada: Guntur East MLA and Assembly minorities committee chairman Naseer has urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to erect a Haj House and an Islamic Academic Centre in capital Amaravati.
He sought allocation of five acres of land and necessary funds for the project.
The request, in the form of a formal representation, was made when he met the CM after the Assembly Session on Friday. Naseer expressed gratitude to Naidu for his support for development of Guntur East constituency.
Referring to the welfare initiatives of the state government for the uplift of Muslims, Naseer said minority communities were pleased with such steps. He noted that establishing a Haj House in the capital region would greatly benefit the Muslim community, particularly the faithful undertaking the annual Haj pilgrimage.
The MLA also pleaded that arrangements be made for Haj pilgrims to depart from Gannavaram airport and awareness seminars be organised to brief pilgrims on the prevailing conditions in Saudi Arabia before their journey.
In a separate appeal, Naseer sought the CM’s support for setting up an Anna Canteen in Autonagar in his constituency. “The area hosts a large number of workers and daily wage earners, for whom a subsidized meal would be beneficial,” he said.
The MLA noted that hundreds of crores of rupees had already been sanctioned for roads, drains and other infrastructure works in his constituency and development works were progressing at a brisk pace.
The Chief Minister responded positively to the proposals.
