VIJAYAWADA: Over 250 industry leaders and others would participate in a discussion on ‘Empowering India’s Green Future’ with special focus on Andhra Pradesh here on Wednesday.

The state is being projected as a ‘talent hub for solar and wind energy at the event that will also involve top government functionaries including IT minister Nara Lokesh and energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar.

The gathering would serve as the official launch pad for an effort to skill thousands of youths across the state in solar and wind energy technologies -- from manufacturing and installation to operations and maintenance. The event is organised by the Swaniti Initiative in partnership with the state skill development corporation.

An official release said, “The event signals a paradigm shift in aligning workforce development with climate resilience and industrial growth. With AP boasting over 38gw of solar and 14gw of wind energy potential, the state is uniquely positioned to be not only a green energy production hub but also a global talent exporter in the clean energy domain.”

Officials said this is not just a skilling event but a mission to empower the state’s youth to lead the new phase of India’s green revolution.

The conference would feature three high-impact panel discussions with solar and wind industry giants and heads of training institutions, who would together chart a roadmap for demand-driven, industry-aligned workforce development. A private sector green skilling taskforce would also be launched during the event.

Officials stated that equity and inclusion would be central to the state’s agenda, with focused sessions on integrating tribal youth, women-led self-help groups (SHGs) and green micro-entrepreneurs into the state’s emerging renewable energy economy.

The outcomes of the conference, they said, would directly inform the upcoming Green Skill Development Roadmap for AP to build a resilient workforce across every district.
