Grand Onam Celebrations Held At Nellore Town Hall

NELLORE: The Malayalees Welfare Association organised grand Onam celebrations at the Nellore Town Hall on Sunday, marked by cultural festivities and community participation.
District collector Anand attended the programme as the chief guest, along with NUDA chairman Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Hotels Association state leader Amaravati Krishna Reddy, Team Global World winner Sadhika Ansari, and several other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, collector Anand said Onam is celebrated across the country beyond the barriers of caste and religion, making it a festival of unity and joy. Expressing personal delight, he recalled his Kerala roots and shared that it had been nearly a decade since he last spoke in Malayalam.
“During my college days I often spoke Malayalam, and after almost 10 years, I got the opportunity to speak in Malayalam again here at Nellore Town Hall while addressing my fellow Keralites,” he said. He also lauded the Malayalee community in Nellore district for their active role in various social service activities.
Amaravati Krishna Reddy, representing 25 cultural associations, said he had been part of the Onam festivities for the past 21 years and emphasised that Malayalees have established themselves as trusted professionals across diverse fields.

Leaders of the Malayalees Welfare Association, including T.G. Gopi (president), Madhu (secretary), Sidhosh (treasurer), Murugan (chairman), along with IMA national executive member Nandakumar, AP president Chachapan, Johnson, Srikumar Nair, Dornala Haribabu and many others, took part in the event.
The vibrant celebrations at Town Hall not only highlighted Kerala’s rich cultural heritage but also underscored the spirit of unity and harmony among communities in Nellore.
