Governor Urges Youth to Join Anti-Drug Campaign

Vijayawada:Andhra Pradesh Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer on Sunday urged young people to enrol as 'Nasha Mukt Yuva Volunteers' and help build a drug-free Andhra Pradesh under the nationwide 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan'.
The Governor participated virtually in the launch of the campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed more than one crore youth connected from 10,000 locations across the country. Modi appealed to youngsters to stay away from drugs and contribute to building a 'Nasha Mukt Bharat'.
Addressing students and MY Bharat volunteers at Lok Bhavan, Abdul Nazeer said the campaign aims to empower young people to become healthy, responsible and drug-free citizens. He said drug abuse leads to serious health problems, poor academic performance, social isolation and financial hardship for families.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will implement the 100-week campaign through weekly cultural, spiritual and sports activities every Sunday for the next two years with the support of MY Bharat youth clubs, educational institutions, community organisations and partner agencies.
Senior officials, members of the EAGLE anti-narcotics team, volunteers and students attended the programme.
