Visakhapatnam: The coalition government will always stand by farmers, said minister of tribal welfare Gummidi Sandhyarani while participating in the Annadata Sukhibhava-PM Kisan programme organised at Salur on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sandhya Rani said the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme was part of the Super Six guarantees announced by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

She said 1,22,260 farmers in Parvathipuram Manyam district have been identified as eligible after completing all the aspects of e-harvest. She said that Rs 84.58 crore would be deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers under the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme for each eligible farmer. She said 100 per cent pension has been given to the elderly, disabled and single women on the first day itself.

Stating that Annadata Sukhibhav was not a burden to the state, she said in addition to the Rs 6, 000 provided by the Centre per year, the state government would provide another Rs 14,000.

District collector A. Shyam Prasad said the government would deposit Rs 20,000 in the account of each farmer in three installments during this Kharif season. He said that most people in the district depend on agriculture for their livelihood and if they fully utilise the government’s development and welfare schemes, their income would double. The collector said that the government was providing free seeds.

DCCB chairman Kimidi Nagarjuna said that preventive measures would be taken to ensure that there was no shortage of fertilisers and seeds.
