Rail traffic on the Vijayawada–Chennai main line was partially disrupted early on Friday after a goods train derailed near Ammanabrolu railway station in Naguluppalapadu mandal of Prakasam district.

Railway officials said two wagons of the train derailed in the early hours and fell across two adjacent tracks, causing damage to the rail infrastructure. No casualties were reported.

Senior railway officials and technical teams rushed to the site and launched restoration work on a war footing. Heavy cranes were deployed to remove the derailed wagons and carry out track repairs.

Several express and passenger trains were temporarily halted at various stations, while some services were diverted. Officials said normal train operations were restored after completion of repairs and safety checks.
