Girl Adopts Zoo Elephant ‘Sarswati’ on Birthday
Zoo authorities thanked Kumari Nitya Jasti for supporting wildlife care and conservation.
Visakhapatnam: The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) in Visakhapatnam has announced the adoption of its Asiatic elephant, “Sarswati,” under its Animal Adoption Programme.
Kumari Nitya Jasti, daughter of Jasti Srikanth and Jasti Asha, adopted the elephant to mark her birthday celebrations. The family contributed Rs. 36,000 for one month starting May 25 and pledged to continue the adoption for one year.
Zoo authorities thanked Kumari Nitya Jasti for supporting wildlife care and conservation. Curator G. Mangamma presented adoption certificates and souvenir kits to the family during a felicitation programme attended by senior veterinarian Dr Bhanu and assistant curators B. Gopi and P.V. Chowdary.
Officials said the Animal Adoption Programme encourages public participation in wildlife conservation and offers tax exemption benefits under Section 80G(5) of the Income-tax Act.
