Gayatri’s Kin Say Sricharan May Be in Vizag
They also alleged that Sricharan had engaged two lawyers—one to handle legal proceedings in Visakhapatnam and another for the case in Mussoorie.
Visakhapatnam: The parents of Radha Gayatri on Friday said her husband, Sricharan Somayajula, should have performed her 12th-day death rites if he had truly loved her, alleging that he has remained untraceable since a murder case was registered against him by the Uttarakhand Police.
Gayatri's parents, P. Sudhakar and Satyavathi, attended the ceremony at Simhachalam, where the rituals were performed by Sricharan's parents, Durga Prasad and Seetha Mahalakshmi.
Gayatri, a 27-year-old software engineer, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a homestay in Mussoorie on June 15 while on a trip with her husband.
Sudhakar urged investigators to examine Sricharan's financial transactions and questioned why he had taken Gayatri to Mussoorie when the couple had originally planned to visit Rishikesh.
During the ceremony, Sudhakar and Satyavathi questioned Sricharan's parents about their son's whereabouts. They, however, maintained that they did not know where he was.
Seetha Mahalakshmi asserted that her son was innocent.
"If he has committed the crime, we will end our lives," she told the media after the rituals.
Gayatri's family expressed doubts over the claim that Sricharan's whereabouts were unknown, alleging that he was hiding somewhere in Visakhapatnam. They reiterated their demand for his immediate arrest.
They also alleged that Sricharan had engaged two lawyers—one to handle legal proceedings in Visakhapatnam and another for the case in Mussoorie.
Earlier, Sudhakar and Satyavathi met Mussoorie Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rahul Anand, seeking a speedy investigation into Gayatri's death and the arrest of Sricharan, against whom a murder case has been registered.
The death of Radha Gayatri has drawn widespread public attention. While her family alleges she was murdered by her husband, the Uttarakhand Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
