Ganta Says Vizag To Get ₹200 Crore Stadium For Disabled

Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao announced that a stadium for people with disabilities will be built at Kommadi in Visakhapatnam at a cost of ₹200 crore.

Visakhapatnam: Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao announced that a stadium for people with disabilities will be built at Kommadi in Visakhapatnam at a cost of ₹200 crore.

The facility will be spread over 22 acres. This will make Andhra Pradesh one of the only two states in India to have such a stadium.
Srinivasa Rao made the announcement during the Amaravati Championship held on the National Sports Day at the Kommadi Integrated Sports Complex. He underlined that Visakhapatnam needs a sports complex similar to the one at Gachibowli in Hyderabad.

The Bheemili MLA said the N. Chandrababu Naidu-led NDA coalition government plans to support athletes with land, employment opportunities and financial incentives. “A new sports policy is being formulated for the purpose,” he disclosed.
Srinivasa Rao pointed out that small countries have earned global fame through sports. Andhra Pradesh aims to follow suit. CSR funds and donations will be used to improve the sports infrastructure, he remarked.
Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh chairman A. Ravi Naidu pointed out that AP is providing 3 per cent reservation in jobs to sportspersons, filling 427 posts through the DSC. He underlined that Education minister Nara Lokesh, has made grounds for sports mandatory in all schools.
Those who participated included top athletes, winners of Dronacharya and Arjuna awards winners, officials and SAAP directors.
