Suspended CI SSVV Nagaraju, A4 Suresh in SIT Custody

Vijayawada: In a significant development in the Gade Saikrishna custodial death case, the fourth accused, Suresh, surrendered before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Thursday.

Gade Saikrishna, a Vijayawada rowdy-sheeter from Krishnalanka, died in June 2026 after allegedly being tortured by suspended Krishnalanka Circle Inspector Nagaraju and others while in custody. The SIT's remand report had already established that Saikrishna died in custody and that his body was destroyed, noting that he was brought in on a non-bailable warrant but never produced in court, with the case unfolding between May 5 and June 19. The state government suspended CI Nagaraju once the allegations surfaced and set up the SIT to fast-track the probe.
Suresh, described as a close associate of the suspended CI, had been evading arrest for weeks, prompting the SIT to issue a public lookout notice and request information from the public on his whereabouts.
Investigators suspect Suresh, who is described as a private individual close to Nagaraju, played a key role in the custodial death case. SIT officials have found that Suresh was involved with Nagaraju in connection with the body's disappearance and later in brokering a reconciliation with the victim's family.
With Suresh now in SIT custody, investigators are expected to question him further on the disappearance of the body, his ties to Nagaraju, and other details about the case. Several others, including a home guard and a head constable, have already been arrested in connection with the case.
