Four Of Family Run Over While Crossing Rail Tracks
Tadepalligudem Railway police are investigating whether the family had committed suicide or had accidentally died.
Four members of a family – Shaik Chand Basha (50), his wife Sheikh Hasina (45), and their daughters Shaik Sharmila (23), an MBA student, and Shaik Sameera (20) died when the Charlapalli-Shalimar train ran over them while they had been trying to cross the railway track at Chebrolu Railway Station in Unguturu mandal of Tadepalligudem Railway Circle on Saturday night.
According to Railway Police, Shaik Chand Basha and Sheikh Hasina of Gudivada had migrated to Tadepalligudem 25 years ago and had been running an optical shop. They had been residing along with their two daughters at a rented house in Tadepalligudem for the past three years. They had been facing financial troubles for some time.
On Saturday evening, they left home on two bikes.

Woman, aides held for husband's murder
Devarapalli police in Anakapalle district arrested a woman and three of her alleged accomplices for the murder of her husband.
The accused were identified as D. Hyma, B. Gangadhar and V. Nagacharan. Police said Hyma's husband, D. Appala Naidu, was strangled to death at his residence in Srirampuram under Devarapalli mandal on July 1.
Investigation revealed that Hyma allegedly developed an illicit relationship with Gangadhar and conspired to eliminate her husband. Police said Gangadhar and his nephew Nagacharan allegedly hired contract killers, while Hyma paid ₹1 lakh for the murder. The hired assailants, identified as Prakash and Shafeer, allegedly carried out the crime. Police said efforts were on to arrest the remaining two accused.
Car burglar arrested, valuables seized
PM Palem police in Visakhapatnam arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly committing a series of property offences.
The accused, L. Padmanabham, a native of Vizianagaram district, allegedly targeted parked cars, smashed their windowpanes and stole valuables kept inside the vehicles.
Police recovered a laptop, gold ornaments and cash from his possession. Further investigation is under way.
ASI killed in road accident near Panyam
An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) lost his life while four others sustained serious injuries in a road accident near Thammarajupalle village in Panyam mandal on the Nandyal-Kurnool National Highway on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Suresh Reddy, who had been serving as an ASI at the Allagadda Rural Police Station. According to police, Suresh Reddy, along with a few others, had travelled to Anantapur in a car to attend a wedding.
While returning, their car tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The car overturned leading to the fatal mishap. Suresh Reddy died on the spot. Special Branch constable Nagendra Prasad Reddy and three others sustained severe injuries in the accident. They have been shifted to the nearby Shantiram Hospital for treatment.
Panyam police have registered a case and are investigating. Officials said the tyre burst is suspected to be the primary cause of the accident.
