With flight services scheduled to operate from the Alluri Sitharamaraju International Airport from August 17, movement of commercial flights at the Visakha airport would be suspended from Sunday midnight.

The Union civil aviation ministry informed that the operation of scheduled commercial flights would be suspended at the Visakhapatnam airport (INS Dega) for 30 years.

However, this regulation would be relaxed during emergency conditions. Non-scheduled commercial flight services, Indian Air Force, Armed forces, police flights, departure and arrival of government guests would continue at the Visakha airport.

The VTZ travel code assigned to the Visakhapatnam airport would be transferred to the Alluri Sitharamaraju airport from August 17 midnight.

Actually, the Bhogapuram-Singapore first flight was scheduled to take off on August 16. However, it was deferred to August 17.

Indigo had already chalked out plans to operate flights from Bhogapuram to Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Tirupati on the first day. Other airliners are also releasing schedules to run flights from Bhogapuram airport. All flights scheduled to operate from Visakha airport from August 16 midnight would take off from Bhogapuram.

Bhogapuram-Hyderabad flights are scheduled to run at 8.55 and 10.40, 1.00 pm on August 17, 4.25 in the evening, 7.20, 8.40 and 9.20 pm in the evening.

Delhi flights would operate at 8.20 am, 10.45 pm, Bengaluru at 2.55 in the afternoon and 9.10 pm, Chennai at 12.15 and 6.35 pm, Kolkata at 7.50 pm, Mumbai at 3.05 pm and Tirupati at 1.50 pm.
