Flight Operations Stabilise at Visakhapatnam, Delays Fall to Zero After a Week of Cancellations
IndiGo, operating the highest number of flights (42–44 daily), accounted for most cancellations during the peak period
Visakhapatnam: Flight operations at Visakhapatnam Airport are steadily returning to normal after weather-related disruptions over the past week, with both cancellations and delays sharply declining since December 8.
On Tuesday, the airport handled 62 scheduled movements with 10 cancellations and no delays exceeding 30 minutes a marked improvement from December 5, when 30 flights were cancelled and 32 were delayed beyond half an hour.
From December 4 to 7, delays and cancellations fluctuated amid adverse weather; however, disruptions have consistently reduced over the last three days, with cancellations dropping from 16 on December 8 to 10 on December 10.
IndiGo, operating the highest number of flights (42–44 daily), accounted for most cancellations during the peak period. Its cancellations reduced from 30 on December 5 to 14 on December 8, 9 and to 10 on Tuesday. Other carriers, including Air India, Air India Express, IndiaOne Air and Scoot, operated largely as scheduled.
Airport officials said passenger assistance measures, including help desks and real-time updates, remain in place. Travellers have been advised to verify flight status with airlines or through official platforms before heading to the airport.
Officials expect full normalisation of services soon, if current trends continue.
