Five DJ Systems Seized for Noise Violations
Police crack down on high-volume DJs, citing noise pollution and public inconvenience
Anantapur: Anantapur city police seized five DJ sound systems for allegedly violating noise pollution regulations during a Ganesh idol procession in the city on Sunday.
Anantapur Urban DSP M. Chandrasekhar said police teams conducted raids at various locations during pre-processions and seized the equipment after organisers allegedly played DJs at high volume, causing inconvenience to the public.
The action followed SP P. Jagadish’s direction to Ganesh celebration committees to adhere to prescribed noise levels and cooperate with police, keeping in mind patients, senior citizens, children and students.
The DSP said excessive noise was particularly affecting patients in hospitals, heart patients, senior citizens and students preparing for examinations. The use of DJs during celebrations and processions was prohibited in the city, while restrictions on loudspeakers after 10 pm were also in force.
He warned that further violations would invite stringent legal action. Event organisers and sound-system owners would be held responsible, while DJ equipment and vehicles transporting them would also be seized.
He appealed to residents to inform police about illegal DJ use and urged Ganesh celebration committees to conduct festivities in a devotional manner without causing inconvenience to people or animals.
